Amongst its wide range of benefits, infrared light is used in neonatal units to treat premature babies, in cancer patients, chronic diseases, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and many more. As described in a clinical study, the cardiovascular demand imparted by thermoregulatory homeostasis* (sweating, vasodilation, decreased afterload, increased heart rate and cardiac output) is achieved by walking in a moderate pace, “Far-infrared saunas for treatment of cardiovascular risk factors" - Richard Beaver, MD CCFP CI". In May 2016, The American Cancer Society released an article describing the fantastic benefit of a controlled heat. Article “Hyperthermia to Treat Cancer", written by American Cancer Society medical and editorial content team, describes how high heat is used in treatment of cancer. Radiation or Chemotherapy kills unhealthy cells but can also injure or kill normal cells and tissues. By increasing the body's overall temperature prior to cancer treatment, the cells were more responsive to cancer treatments with much faster recovery. Higher heat causes increased blood flow and higher oxygenation, increased immunity and therefore anti-cancer environment. We know that cancer attacks cells that lack oxygen and heat delivers so needed oxygen to the cells. Infrared light therapy has a wavelength of the visible and non-visible light spectrum of sunlight that heats the body normally. Instead of heating the air within the enclosure, infrared saunas heat the body directly. The result is a deeper tissue penetration. In contrast with a traditional dry and /or steam sauna, infrared's effectiveness is in its ability to penetrate deeper, faster within the tissue and perspiration happening quickly.
